Will that be sliced or diced?
Guangdong, China, 2010
It always puzzled me why people in China feel so free to throw their rinds on the ground even when a pail for the purpose is proffered. Then someone told me, "Cleaning that up is someone else's job"! Okay, so that is that. For now. At least until the same consciousness about littering that Westerners have learned just this past century moves over to China. And believe me, it will.

Try doing that in Singapore, and one is liable for a fine of a few hundred dollars! that's how we managed to keep our city clean. Only when it hit their pocket will people stop the habit! lol
I like the watermelon diced and chilled, please.
good dessert to have on a hot day!
Makes for a sticky mess to clean up...and so obviously a pail is there for the rinds. Hmmmm.
Love watermelon I do!!!
My Tuesday Photo Do hope you can find time to visit with me.
I guess it has to do with culture. I have notice in other countries things are different.
My Ruby Link for you
I used to think that eating watermelon was about getting it all over your face. My age is showing now, because I think I prefer to avoid total mess. The dicing will be fine :) (I love watermelon.)
"Someone else's job." Seems like we have quite a few Canadians who think that too.
We save our watermelon rinds for the horses...they LOVE them and they think its quite a treat!
Doesn't make much sense to throw stuff on the ground right next to a trash can...but, we do crazy things here, too.
I was surprised and delighted that you and Tapirgal are friends.
I save our watermelon for the deers. I love watermelon dice and cold. ^_^ happy Tuesday!
Barnyard Express
perfect treat for hot summer days.
That's interesting about the grind! Yummy watermelon though!
Sigh. Sounds like Filipinos… Even in our office I need to blow my top every few months or so just to get people to clean up after themselves in our pantry. Hate, hate, hate it. The downside to being so used to having maids.
Mess or no mess and it all depends upon the occasion - I love, love, love watermelon!
Fantastic photo!
