King of the Road

 Mindoro, 2010

One thing we can say with certitude about Mindoro Oriental after our little trip a few weeks ago, if not about the rest of the Philippine Islands, is that dogs rule the road. Time and again our car had to slow down to a crawl to circumnavigate a local country mutt lazing on the roadway, giving no sign of fear nor making a move. My friend thought it was hysterical and finally asked our driver to stop for me to take this souvenir for her.

I link it to Mary's Sepia Scenes where you'll find other interesting sepia images.

Looks fabulous in sepia, Francisca. alm, cool dog. I'm assuming you didn't see roads littered with dead dogs, like gophers on prairie highways in the spring, or you wouldn't have said dogs rule the road.
This particular lounger looks coolly confident that all cars will slow for the circumnavigation. Wonderful shot!

Oops, typo.
"Calm, cool dog."
My fingers don't work well any more. You'd never suppose I ever worked setting type for the Sun and the Province, would you? Sigh.

This is so cute and I like your composition and sepia on this.

Your comment on my photo made me laugh - I knew as soon as I posted it I would be told what that was! :)

We had a cat like that. She lay on the middle of the road and watched all cars passing her.
Sorry I didn't say anything about you being Dutch with a Dutch passport until 1980. I was in a hurry this morning, for I got a visitor.
Do you still speak Dutch?

Love the sepia on this one - also the title and the dog. Great all around.

Buongiorno Francisca, the ways of fate are endless, if this dog had not been so wonderfully dull we'd lost the chance to admire this beautiful picture!

P.S. in your last comment that it could not read what was written on my blog if any are interested, know that in the upper right is the translator that lets you read the blog in your favorite language, some translation is not accurate but we understand the meaning of the speech

Great shot, there always seems to be a dog friend on my travels, I love dogs so they don't bother me at all quite the contrary. I find that these dogs seem always to own the place and are quite happy to follow you around for the whole time just to make sure you don't get lost....

Gorgeous sepia! It's pigeons for us. I don't know if you noticed while you were here, but the pigeons are very arrogant and hardly every move aside for you. And if you have something to eat, they follow you!

lovely shot and as soon as my eye passed from the title to the photo i beamed a smile - at least it isn't a Highland Cow on a narrow road - they are almost immovable.

Just read your "Who am I?"

You can't help but say wow? Have you been to Singapore where they have a ice shaved dessert called ice kachang.

They have all sorts of ingredients each with their own IDs.
