Waiting out the Rain

These bare-footed boys sitting on Quiapo Bridge that crosses the Pasig River in Manila are either resting or waiting out the rain.... or both. It had already been a long day of walking.

Manila, 2011

For the story behind this image, see my recent post about the Black Nazarene procession.

Today I link with the blogging communities at Weekend Reflections, Weekend in Black & White, and Sunday Bridges.

Either way, it's very interesting. It appears that everyone is barefoot. Is that so? I'll have to read the story behind this...
Either way it's a great candid.

Marvelous watery reflections and I do remember your post about the Black Nazarene procession! Terrific capture for the day, Francisca, as always! Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

I like - the b&w works and you've caught some nice wet reflections.

I read the post on the Black Nazarene...I'm constantly amazed at all the foolishness connected with religion although in this case it seems harmless enough.

oh, I just know I'm going to love this story that I don't have time to read at this moment but will come back to. this is a fantastic photo Francisca. just had to write that. happy weekend to you my friend. I LOVE this photo.

This is a great image Francisca. The story is all there in the B&W image, a photo that could have been taken many years ago. It's timeless and Oh so human.

Thanks for dropping by. I do appreciate your comments. Aside from the size difference of the piles the movement of the water and the reflections change a bit. When I walked along the pier, I felt a bit dizzy at first because of the movement of the water. Glad you appreciate the moment.

Whoops. I forgot to congratulate you on having your angel photo selected for the wall.

Thanks for the link to the background story. I like this image - the lines work well in monochrome.

They kind of do look worn out. That's the look on my face after a full day in heels. Gorgeous B&W, Francisca!

A lovely photo of everyday life - it must be raining but hot by the look of their clothes - good capture!

This is one of those beautiful photographs that could easily have been a full pager in the old Life magazine...when it was really BIG! So much to look at, think about, and study. The black and white is the perfect medium. It may be raining there, but seeing your picture makes my room real sunny. genie

Perfect for B&W with bridge structure, people and reflection. And interesting. I can look for a while and imagine how many people walk there barefoot.
