The apple blossoms' shower of pearl,
Though blent with rosier hue
As beautiful as woman's blush
As evanescent too.”
~ Letitia E Landon (English poet/novelist, 1802–1838)
The apple blossom exists to create fruit; when that comes, the petal falls.

Austria, 2011
I saw this magnificent apple tree in bloom this past spring in Austria.

A lovely reminder of spring - when the petals fall it's like a snowstorm.

What a lovely reminder of spring in this rather autumn-like-summer:)
Have a nice Sunday!
Beautiful but delicate blossom - lovely shots for SSS!
Very beautiful blossoms! I look forward to apple blossom time every year,
Apple blossoms, I think, are the most beautiful of all fruit tree flowers.
IF SHADOWS
If shadows could jump,
How high would they go?
As high as the moon?
Does anyone know?
If shadows could weep,
How long would they cry?
As long as it takes
To climb to the sky?
If shadows could laugh
And tell funny jokes
Would you take them home
And say, “Get this, folks!”?
If shadows could wed,
Would they prefer you
Or somebody else
To promise, “I do”?

Shadows on this door and this
Really pretty. I love the close-ups.
What vibrant colors and textures you've captured! Really gorgeous!
Delicate shadows for delicate blossoms! Beautiful.
Lovely shots!
Apple blossoms are one of my favorite to photograph in the spring. I never get enough. :)
Very beautiful. It makes me wish it was spring all over again. Especially with this autumn like weather. Thanks!
Delightful soft shadows, Francisca. Apple blossoms always remind me of my childhood in the Okanagan.
Right now we're cruising through Russia -- today the River Svir and Lake Onega. St. Petersburg was amazing.
If I can't comment often, please know I'm doing the best I can.

Que lindas flores de maçã! Parece uma núvem branca perfumada. Sua visita e comentário são muito importantes para mim.Mostrei o post para o meu pai, e ele ficou admirado de uma pessoa de tão longe vê-lo através da internet. Ele ficou maravilhado. Abraços!

I love apple blossoms...these are beautiful photos! We don't have great growing soil or much of a growing season here in NH, but our apples are wonderful!
A lovely series. They are such delicate blossoms.
Lovely shots!
Lovely and poetic shots!
Fantastic!!!! Thanks Francisca :)
I love apple blossoms too especially the violet ones! Can you imagine my amazement the first time i saw it, of course you know we dont have it here. However, i can't distinguish the apples from plums, apricots, etc, to me the flowers look the same!
You can't beat a good blossom!
Francisca - your apple blosson photo's are lovely. Weekend flowers looks like a fun blog to link to. I enjoyed reading about your travels. I smile at the contrast in our lives. I live in the house I grew up in and my daily travels to work are less than a minute away. In my case I think the quote "bloom where you are planted" works fo me..happy travels to you!!
Apple blossom is so delicate! I love it :)
Apple blossom looks so pure and beautiful.

Simply beautiful! Love the subject matter and the photos...
This tree reminds me a bit of our cottonwoods when they are in bloom, but the apple blossoms are prettier! I don't know much about apple trees, but I'm wondering if each blossom means an apple?
It seems like we've been in summer forever but your photo reminded me that spring was just a few months ago. Gorgeous photos! :D
