[MyWorld] The BBQ Vendor

With one hand flaming the coal and another swooshing away the flies, this street vendor busily tends to her humble BBQ meat stand across from the wet market.

 Manila, 2010

She uses barbecue sauce and a Pinoy vinegar concoction to spice the meat on a stick. So what's your pleasure? Chicken innards, blood, pork fat?

This is my world and at MyWorld Tuesday you may get surprised with other fascinating worlds around the globe. You may also want to check out who else is seeing RED today at Ruby Tuesday.

I bet the aromas were wonderful but I'm vegetarian. :)

I still prefer the good old fashioned pork BBQ on a stick! I still cannot get that "secret" recipe for the sauce!

Your portraits of the woman show her to be a very serious business woman. I think I'll have to pass on the BBQ, though.

Though proud, she looks like she's about to bite you. Sorry, but I'm never at my best this early in the morning.

Innards, blood and fat... Is there anything else is on the menu?

ps. I have Malaysian Chinese background and speak Chinese dialects. Now I understand why you asked the question, thinking that my heritage is Japanese :).

I am always fascinate by these stalls and often can't resist trying them...

I'll pass. I like my food fly free and free of things like chicken stuffs, bloody stuffs, and the fat of pork.

Very interesting series of photos, though.

You ARE a world traveler...my son loves your part of the world....and we certainly enjoyed it when we visited. They went to Borcay for their honeymoon trip and I loved the pictures from there....someone said it was the "party island" but he said 'well maybe but not for us!'....funny comment from a honeymooner right?!! thanks for stopping by and I will be back!

I love barbecued chicken intestines, but stopped eating them decades ago. Too scary if they're not cleaned well.
