During his visit to the area in 1979, Henry Kissinger, US Secretary of State at the time, commented: "Before l came here l thought the Chinese landscape paintings were but the romantic creation of painters, but now having seen the landscape… l realize they are realistic genuine portrayals."
There isn't much that can surpass the serenity of softly floating down the Yulong (Meeting the Dragon) River on a simple bamboo raft (which you can see here) surrounded by magnificent limestone pinnacles veiled in a gentle mist… “merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.”

No wonder I thought the painting looks Chinese. I also posted a bridge, taken by my husband. Hopefully next time, I will post mine. LOL
I don't know much about China, but I wonder how they would keep most of their country this way, with that kind of economy and population. The country is immense, but we have seen this before...

The Chinese landscape depicted in their paintings is pretty unique, and extremely beautiful. I've been to a place like this outside Beijing during my first trip, but I can't remember what's it's called. Your photo is truly beautiful. That lone cyclist is a nice touch too.

Simply beautiful, Francisca. I love black and white photos, and used to like to watch photographers work in the darkroom, where they knew how to get the very best from the negative onto the paper.
