[SkyWatch] Sky in the Sand

You may have seen the beach photos taken in Ilocos I posted earlier with sunset silhouettes and reflections. On that same evening walk, I marveled at the beauty of the sky colors in the sand (better viewed enlarged).

Ilocos, 2010

Help me get better at choosing my images to post. Which is your favorite? And why? Which is your least favorite? Why? I have thick skin, so please don't worry; I'd so much rather learn something than be falsely praised.

I link this post with SkyWatch Friday and Weekend Reflections.

I like all the photos, Francisca, but if I were to choose just one I'd pick the first one because I like the curve of the land and the fact that I can see a bit of the sky that's being reflected in the water. :)

The reflections of sky on the water are sublime Francesca.

I love #2's shapes and colors and texture and the fact that it is centered on just that spot so you can devote your whole attention to it.

Wonderful series.

I'd have to give my vote to number 2 - the texture and repeating patterns create visual interest and really lead the viewer in.

Beautiful shots dear Francisca!!! They are all sublime :)

Have a wonderful weekend.

I like the 3rd one best. It shows more colour in the sky and gives some reference with the land. The curves and soft waves are also a bit sensual with a bit of roughness around the edge.

I love 'em all!!!

Happy weekend.

Stunning when enlarged, Francisca! These would look wonderful on a wall.
I like #2, but #1 is my favourite. I like to see the sky and the land as reference points for the colous in the sand. Great work, as always, my friend.

Gentle and romantic, Francisca! I wish I could be there instead of such a cold place like my city today!

I like #2 for its simplicity.
Although I also like #3 for the whole scene.

Oh Francisca, that's a tall order for an amateur photographer and I feel inadquate to criticize. I hope you don't ever take my praise as false -- I come here to learn .. about places and about photography. (And I'd stop coming if I thought I was making nice things up ;>)

I think you have a great eye. And I liked the first picture best, but I have no idea why.

They are all beautiful, I think the first two are my favorites. The first for the scenery and the second for the capture of the design.

Those reflections are beautiful Francisca. I love the first two photos, 1st is wide angle including a bigger scene and #2 shows the details, the texture and hues. The subtle waves make those corrugations like those at the Dubai dessert, remember?

It's so beautiful! The colors, the lights and especially the patterns.

the first photo is my favorite it shows the water and the curve of the coast and the sky. i like the patterns on the second shot. the last one is my least favorite.:p

I want to choose the 1st photo but also like the 2nd, I settle with the 2nd photo. Because of the ripple effect on the sand. Happy weekend!

These are lovely shots and I lvoe how the sky is reflected in the sandy water. It is hard to pick favourites but if I must it would be #2, and #3 from the top. Why? One because it shows the pattern so close up and makes it interesting...the way the way breaks up the water on the sand and the water in the ocean makes the photo more interesting. The #3 photo is also interesting to me. I think it is because not only is the scenery so pretty but on the right hand side of the photo you get more visual interest with the water...cresting waves, gentle though they may be. I hope I've helped :-)

A great sky reflected in glass or water is my favorite! One gorgeous sky is awesome, but, two is mind boggling...very pretty, Francisca!

Todas as fotos são lindas, mas fico com a primeira por causa da notidez das núvens na areia da praia! Parabéns!

Lowell said...

Okay. It's the third one...better angle (low down) and a much more sweeping and encompassing shot.

Well, that's what I think anyway, although they are all quite excellent.

Re your comment about point-and-shoots not being able to do ISO 80: The Canon S95 is not your everyday, run-of-the-mill point-and-shoot...it can do anything! Well, almost...

Mu favourite is the second one : the pink reflection on the wet grey sand is admirably taken. The one I'm not so kean on is the last one. The contrast between sand and water is less marked, and the picture is pretty, but I like it less.

Dear Francisca,
Your pictures are all beautiful, I don't know the right English word, but I love those "little waves", it's FANTASY, we can imagine several forms and maybe "sounds", like music!
I like a lot!

I realize that I didn't tell you yesterday which one I liked the best and I'd probably choose the first one because I really like your composition. That being said, I also love the second one with the ripply wave effect and the third one for more of the real sky! Enjoy your weekend, Francisca, take more pics!!!

Fantastic reflections, so beautiful! Love the light.

Obviously they are all fascinating photos -- everyone was picked by someone! I do like #1 best, I think, I guess......

VP said...

My favorite is definitely the third image, with the right proportion of water and sky. You know, the image divided in thirds...

I really love the second and forth pictures, Fransica, because they are unique. The are a study in line and texture as well as reflection...very nice!

Can't choose between the 2nd and the last, because as a painter both are very interesting to me - they could be my paintings too:):)
2nd one for the patterns, and the last for its colors!

The sandy ripples attracts my husband. He is always pointing them out of me.

Where are you now?

Of this quality, i could sit there and dream myself out to see with dozens of them. Post more rather than less, I love them all and if you want to know why, well, simply because they are beautiful!

hey! that's not fair!
I think my favorite is the first one. I love the curve of the shoreline...

I don't believe it! I was almost at the end of the comment stream before anyone mentioned my favourite! Number 4 stands out for me because of the brightness of the colours in the reflection. I think it is a quality photograph!

These are all very beautiful but my favorite would be the first one!
