I love The Big Apple. It's one of the most diverse cities in the world and a fabulous place to explore on foot - when you're lucky with the weather.
Consider just eating... With over 18,696 restaurants in the five boroughs (says NYC's Tourism Board), you could live there for 50 years, eat out every night, and never enter the same place twice. Whew!
For me, good food will always trump atmosphere, but I am happiest when I can get both. After a long morning of walking the streets of Manhattan, we stumbled on this funky diner and stopped to rest our tired feet. My lunch of lox and cream cheese on a big bagel with a cup of dark rich coffee was just perfect.

Oh wow 50 years without going back to a certain restaurant? That's my kind of city hahaha!! Anyway, I love to visit New York too as everybody says it's very diverse and I like diversity. -wink- Happy weekend!

Of course your post made me hungry!
Must be almost paradise - eh, live and eat in NY:)
Greetings.
My favorite kind of place! Coincidentally, Lois and I ate at a funky little bagel shop in Ocala this morning!
We've only been to NYC a couple of times, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Lois ran the NYC Marathon in 2003! That was great fun. I took photos!
Hope all is well and that you have a very nice weekend.
This is a nice little social comment when enlarged, Francisca. It is not the most upmarket of diners, but that might be a contradiction in terms anyway. I like the flower 'vases', which look more like lights in an old cinema.
I love New York City! Haven't been there in quite a while, but it's such a great city! And I love you reflection for the day! Terrific capture! Hope you have a fun weekend! Enjoy!

That looks like my kind of place. I can leave my house and be in Manhattan in less than two hours but I rarely go. It's such a great place I need to make more of an effort. :)
Delicious!
Happy weekend reflection.
Regards dearest.

I adore bagels and the diner you found looks like a great place to eat! I'll have to try to find it when I'm there this fall :D
This looks like a cool place. I enjoyed reading the 2nd paragraph.
Yup, NYC is fantastic. So is your photo, I just love this kind of place!
Mmmmm. Lunch sounds good!
What a cool looking diner! I love the decorations! Many, many reflections, too! I love NYC!
I agree about the substance and even about the form.
Funky diners are the best! And Manhattan is a paradise of funky eateries!
Thank you for your nice comment on the NE Peace Pagoda. It is worth visiting, if you ever have a chance. They have a website "under construction". Hopefully it will be up soon, as there is a lot that goes on there or is sponsored through there. The peace walks are one example. I have never participated, since they are days long walks but I like knowing about them and supporting by giving attention through photos.
It's nice to connect up with you on the blogs!
Peace,
Gina
Sounds like a nice lunch. Looks like a great place.
Yes, it does look like a great place, and found by serendipity also!!
We were very lucky when we were in New York a while back. We found a funky diner near Yankee Stadium, with helpings so huge we could barely manage to finish but, as we were going to an afternoon game, we were considering it lunch and dinner combined.
Really enjoyed watching the Yankees play our Toronto Blue Jays in the last opening week at old Yankee Stadium. Will have to go back some time for a game in the new one.
