Whimsical Birds Mural

I don't know anything about this mural painted on a corrugated metal fence in Cebu, but I know I liked it as soon as I spotted it. Click.

Cebu, 2011

Then I took a closer look and saw how whimsical - and odd - it is. Click.

And as I walked past it, I realized what a challenge it would have been to paint on this surface. Click.

If this be graffiti then let there be more like it. Very clever.

Yes, I also like it, Francisca. The artist must have been very resourceful and dedicated to paint that particular fence.

It looks like it has been there a long time so I think several others must really like it too!

Hello Francisca, yes that 1st mural is really odd. I wonder what the painter must have been thinking in doing that. A few weeks ago the surrounding fence of the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City also got a newly made mural. I've seen it only with the definitions of biodiversity made in white paints, then lately i saw on TV that many volunteers did the coloring of the creatures. I will still go there to finally see the outcome. ..best regards.

I wonder if the wall was like that when it was painted! If so - WOW! The talent it takes to make something look like anything recognizable on that wall is amazing! Very interesting birds...definitely strange. What a great find!

Who ever painted this had real talent in order to paint on a surface like this. Nice find Francisca.

Superb mural and you're right - painting on such a fence must have been a challenge!

Wow, what an effort to paint this mural. Very neat though.

Oh, yes, "challenge" isn't a strong enough word. Darryl and Ruth might have it with "effort"!
Beautiful shots, though, Francisca.

I guess creative expression will not be denied. These birds look like ostriches but are there any in Cebu? I especially like the rhythm created by plump bodies. It carries your eye along the fence. Is it still there? If not, you've memorialized it here. Thanks for being part of this week's Monday Mural.

I love whimsy!

I really like it - glad you caught it!

Carolyn of ODP... there are no ostriches in Cebu that I know of, but certainly no double-headed ones! I took these photos in December, 2011, so it's quite likely the mural is still there.

Art in it's purest form! The rough surface really adds to the mural.
It is indeed very whimsical...

I'd LOVE to see a two headed blue ostrich!

Those two headed birds are so cool! Love this weathered mural.
