In Search of Beauty

Some business signs inspire confidence. Others, well... not so much.

Cebu, 2011

Yet this beauty parlor in Cebu had a line-up of eager customers.

And how could you resist patronizing a parlor that promises, "You don't have to go anywhere, because with our service you will be... too gorgeous"!

Manila, 2011

Interesting that the manicure and pedicure are for women only?!

I love them! Have you tried to become too gorgeous to go anywhere? Lol, sounds bizarre!

Aha! Those signs are familiar :D They're funny (even if they're not trying to be). Wait, what? Too gorgeous and they know it? Lol.

I also find it funny that there is a man on the sign for Catherine's Salon... unless Catherine can also double for men in your area.

There used to be a place near me called Pampers Salon. I always wondered who wanted to go to a salon named for diapers. :S

Nice finds. I especially like the photo with the people in it.

I had a bad experience in Cebu. I was in a WC when the biggest cockroach I've ever seen ran up my leg and jumped out from my zipper. I can laugh now but at the time I was horrified. I still remember the sound it made when it hit the floor. :p

has no-one else noticed the unfortunate irony of a hair salon called 'nitz'?

Oh dear, I could have sworn I commented yesterday but I guess I didn't. :-(

Yes, @VioletSky, I thought about the salon name, too. Eeek!

And, "We accept service in wedding" is a curious statement.

Very interesting captures, and funny how the English language gets twisted around.

the first beauty salon is rather humble looking.
and I wonder why Catherine chose this particular image for her salon ;)

Francisca, if it were not for bloggers like you many of us would never see the world past our own back yards. I know that is true for me.

My husband lived in the Philippines for seven years. I hear the stories about his life in Cebu but seldom get to see any pictures. This post took me back there and fit so much of what he has told me.

Your shots of the bridge in Rome is fantastic. Loved the reflections and just the age it exudes.

Thank you so much for being my tour guide and letting me travel vicariously along with you.

So different. I notice that the shop with the line, is the one with the hand painted sign...

I truly regret not having taken A LOT of shots of all the signs I've seen on my travels, but you start taking one or two and then you get used to them and they don't catch your attention anymore.
