Along a Yellow Fence

For the meme Friday Fences, here are three different scenes I captured walking in Cebu, capital of the Visayas, along one loooong yellow metal fence separating the sidewalk from the busy street.

Ostensibly the fence was erected to force some discipline into the typically unruly pedestrians. But that did not stop the cigarette and candy vendor from setting up his stand right on the street. The Philippines is the only place I have been where street hawkers will sell a single "stick" of cigarette or a single piece of candy to motorists. Do you know any other country that has this special service?

There is no place like it. Of that, I'm sure...

Wow, scary place to go into business.
I love the other two photos, though, Francisca, and I hope the year 2012 is treating you right!

hahaha, you are very observant, i can't imagine you were able to vividly focus those leg chains! I wonder why i can't comment on the post before this. Because blogger gave me this (bX-nne0wj), i was led to a lot of links, which eventually gave me no answer. So i just closed and re-opened, i will check later if it still appears. BTW, which hotel did you stay in Cebu?

Great shots of your yellow fence and all that is going on by it. Mickie :)

There are people who like to live dangerously. I admire his audacity to set up like this - blocking auto traffic with his stand and pedestrian traffic with his umbrella pole!

Great photos. I love the one of the person's foot, so personal and colorful. The nice brown skin texture, the ankle bracelets and that great flip flop. The photos are all colorful, and that fencing is fantastic. It would look great surrounding a garden.

Thanks again for sharing life around the world.

Francisca, I'm not planning any trip at the moment, at least till the beginning of February:(

Great shots...love the foot on the fence! Years ago when I was much younger...our neighborhood store sold single pieces of candy and single cigs! 1 cent for the candy n 2 cents for the cig!
