[SkyWatch] Goodbye Winter. Looking Skyward.

I've said my hellos to spring (here and here). Today I salute and say goodbye to winter.

Walking through Kiseleff Park tonight, I joined the Roman poet Ovid in looking skyward. Soon the beauty of bare trees will be no more.

Bucharest, 2011

If you enjoy watching the sky as much as I do, check out the awesome skies around the world at SkyWatch Friday.

Lovely shots. Most people think I'm crazy when I admit I'm sad that the bare limbs will be gone for another few months. :) But I also like leaves, so I guess I'm not too sad. :))

was that a jet plane landing?

We are not so glad that our Winter is threatening to make an early entrance.

Like EG, I LOVE the bare, dark trees silhouetted against the skies even though they look more winter-like than spring. But this way I can love the trees all year long!! These are really fantastic captures, Francisca! You have a great eye for composition! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

We must have all been in the same mind set because I posted my shot from a walk in a gorgeous park. This series is lovely and shows what beautiful weather you are having. Know you must be thrilled. It is not going to be long before those trees will be totally transformed with the growth of their beautiful new leaves. Then you will have all new images to shoot. Nature gives us an endless variety of wonderful things to photograph.

Very pretty sky and I hope your hope is soon realized.

Re your comment on Cedar Key: I rounded up those gulls and told them I would give them three fish each if they said on those old pilings while I took a photo.

They are so gullible! Heh, heh!

Lowell said...

Oops...that should read "sat" on those pilings...

Ah winter trees, you can't beat them for skies. Reading Ovid now?

And Ovid is happy Skywatching, too! Your sunset skies are a beauty!

Hello Francisca

Lovely set of sky pics. I think wintery skies with branches in the foreground is quite nice.

Thanks for the visit. Am in Beijing because my husband is studying Mandarin! It is handy coz he can now read menus :). I can't so I have to rely on him.

Happy weekend, Ev

How nice of you to say farewell to winter! I totally forgot about winter the minute spring swept in ;D

The branches beautifully decorate the sky but I'm sure they'll look just as lovely with leaves! Have a wonderful weekend in Bucharest!

I don't like cold anymore, but I really do appreciate the beauty of tree "bones" -- the bare and graceful branches. You have a lovely collection!

Yes it's about time to see leaves on the tree. But your shots are beautiful!
