Palm Shadow

Manila, 2011

A potted palm casting its shadow in our lanai (veranda). The organic shape of the leaves in contrast to the geometric lines of the house appeals to me.

  3. What a beautiful shadow! I really like shadows like this in black and white. I've been taking some late afternoon photos of shadows myself. Now I just need to find time to make them black and white. :)

    Have a great weekend!

  8. I'm always a sucker for photos of light and shadows. This one is excellent!! It is especially effective for being black and white (which is a setting I think I should experiment with much more!)

  9. A truly superb shadow shot, Cisca! For me it is a classic! I love the sharp shadows of the plant and the softer ones of of the house! Happy SSS! Enjoy your weekend!

  20. This has a lot of impact - simple but atmospheric - a great B&W choice.

  21. I like the way the shadow takes up more space in the shot than the actual plant does - your eye is drawn down towards the bottom of the photo and then back up to look at the plant.
