Kaiping, 2012
Unfortunately, other than its name, I know nothing about Kaiping Bridge except that it spans the Tanjiang River, which you can see here is rather wide.
Oh, I also know that at night the bridge puts on an amazing light show. When we walked past it last night, I could swear they've added even more lights than when I posted it earlier.
I took these three photographs yesterday. It's hard to tell when the sky is still foggy, but it was a balmy, sunny spring day.
Again, what is interesting about these boats is that they are made of molded concrete.
The arches on this bridge only seem to be on one half (or am I seeing it wrong?) Those houseboats in the middle of the wide river look a little cumbersome!
ReplyDeleteThere are arches on both sides of the bridge, Lesley; it's just the straight on angle of my shot that makes it look like a single set.
DeleteEven if it is not a stunning bridge, it most be important to have it. Such bridges are marvelous engineering work.
ReplyDeleteyou sure get around; interesting bridge photos
ReplyDeleteIt is a good example of a utilitarian bridge -- and after all that is all that is necessary for a bridge. Yes, if I were going to live on a houseboat, I'd probably not choose these ones. But I still like them.
ReplyDeleteGreat bridge shots.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
Good shots!
ReplyDeleteSome bridges get the fanfare, while others do the heavy lifting. Nice photos! A large river...
