Going Home

After the two boatmen in their banca (a wood boat with bamboo outriggers on each side) dropped us back at our resort, one used his long bamboo pole to push off from shore and home they went. It was late in the afternoon, the sun's rays were dancing on the water's surface, and I thought this contra-light silhouette scene would work in monochrome. Do you agree?

    Black and white photos still tug at my heartstrings, as if my childhood has returned for an instant.
    This is a glorious photo, Francisca. It makes me think of Joseph Conrad, and Hemingway, and all those men who wrote of the ocean in strong black ink.

    It definitely works in monochrome and you have lined up the boatman perfectly below the light shimmering on the water. Nice!

    Yes! This is fabulous! I like how quiet that water is. Do they row this boat or do they have a motor somewhere? It seems like a very big boat for just two men :D

    I definitely agree, as I am a Francisca Photography fan. By the way, i think your boatman in Anilao is Ka Iyas, as that blue boat you used seems familiar.
