Decorated Door

 Kathmandu, 2010


I found the old wood-carved door on its own already beautiful. Decorated with bright flowers it created a warm welcome.

This was the entrance to a trade hall for Nepalese hand crafted products intended for export. Unfortunately, not many international buyers came to this distant source.

    OK, girlfriend...this is geting to be very painful. Kathmandu, 2010, is almost more than I can handle. I watch all the podcasts and films on Mt. Everest and that area, and a visit there has been on my Bucket List for years. I just want to spend time with the native peoples, eat their food, and soak in the beautifulness. I want to get to Base Camp and just enjoy it...trash or no trash. I have a magical plan. I will take all of my BA FFmiles, take lots of pain medication for my scholiasts pain, and fly to wherever you are...then my magical journey will begin. Buddy would give me a hug and a kiss and say GO FOR IT! I could sit in your room and look at pictures and pictures, and if I was really lucky we could hit the air and go to some of the places I so want to visit. It would take all of my savings, but who cares. It is only a magical dream. Any gal that is “not a part of the normal couple syndrome” is one I who would be just what this old gal - my curls are all gone and so are Buddy’s - could enjoy. I will just keep pretending. I have been doing it all of my life so have gotten pretty good at it. Guess I need to shut up and start packing my imaginary bag...but maybe I need to call BA first. Maybe in another life we were sisters...who knows. Gotta get out the prayer flags and start praying...love the post and the doors. They are so pretty. Hugs, genie

    Those orange lines hanging atop the door are so intriguing. They cast off a hue. Trying to imagine the time it took to create a door so lovely. Thinking that we don't take time to create at length like that....then re-thinking what blogs are. Hope all is well.

    Francisca, this photo is one of my faves. the spray of flowers adds a beautiful touch to the already fine door, and the peeling paint on the side - it's perfect. this is a work of art. this one ought to be on your wall! I love this door. happy day to you.

    Yes, beautiful doors made lovelier by colourful flowers!
    I thought of you today when the weather in Vancouver turned sunny after a rainy morning. It's nice to be visiting the wet west coast, no matter what the weather.

    @Lesley - The streamers on the door are made of orange flowers, but of course I can’t tell you what kind. :-)

    Hi Francisca, the first 2 shots are lovely and the 3rd is funny! I am glad you saw and took that.
