These bare-footed boys sitting on Quiapo Bridge that crosses the Pasig River in Manila are either resting or waiting out the rain.... or both. It had already been a long day of walking.
Manila, 2011
For the story behind this image, see my recent post about the Black Nazarene procession.

Either way, it's very interesting. It appears that everyone is barefoot. Is that so? I'll have to read the story behind this...
ReplyDeleteEither way it's a great candid.
Marvelous watery reflections and I do remember your post about the Black Nazarene procession! Terrific capture for the day, Francisca, as always! Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Yes sometimes if I walk that far I'd rather go barefooted hehehe. Beautiful composition Francisca.
ReplyDeleteWeekend Reflection
I like - the b&w works and you've caught some nice wet reflections.
ReplyDeleteI read the post on the Black Nazarene...I'm constantly amazed at all the foolishness connected with religion although in this case it seems harmless enough.
Wow : this reflection is just perfect ; the black and white gives some power to this image indeed... Nice shot, Francisca.
ReplyDeletePerfect black and white.
ReplyDeleteI love this shot. The reflection is great and also a great people shot. I read your post about the procession which was very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great shot! The composition is excellent,it's an interesting scene,it looks great in black and white and the reflections are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou've captured some wonderful reflections here, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture Francisca.
ReplyDeleteLove the atmosphere in this shot.
ReplyDeleteoh, I just know I'm going to love this story that I don't have time to read at this moment but will come back to. this is a fantastic photo Francisca. just had to write that. happy weekend to you my friend. I LOVE this photo.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great image Francisca. The story is all there in the B&W image, a photo that could have been taken many years ago. It's timeless and Oh so human.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by. I do appreciate your comments. Aside from the size difference of the piles the movement of the water and the reflections change a bit. When I walked along the pier, I felt a bit dizzy at first because of the movement of the water. Glad you appreciate the moment.
Whoops. I forgot to congratulate you on having your angel photo selected for the wall.
ReplyDeleteThe look of bored teenagers everywhere! But what is everyone wearing on their heads?
ReplyDeleteGreat image. Happy weekend Francisca.
ReplyDeletesorry I didn't look carefully last blog. Here looks like only men , are there women walking?
ReplyDeleteLovely but where are their shoes?
ReplyDeleteInteresting photo - it gets the imagination going if you don't know the story behind it!

ReplyDeleteRegards!
They kind of do look worn out. That's the look on my face after a full day in heels. Gorgeous B&W, Francisca!
ReplyDeleteThe image is arresting. I read your other post, also, and prayed for these people.
ReplyDeleteThe composition is perfect.
ReplyDeleteHello Francisca, I chanced upon your blog from the linky of Weekend Reflections. I am now a fan and a follower. I am a filipina who has migrated here in the US. It gives me great pleasure to read your posts about my country -the Philippines (especially, Manila) By the way, you have the same name as my mother-in-law. :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely photo of everyday life - it must be raining but hot by the look of their clothes - good capture!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those beautiful photographs that could easily have been a full pager in the old Life magazine...when it was really BIG! So much to look at, think about, and study. The black and white is the perfect medium. It may be raining there, but seeing your picture makes my room real sunny. genie
ReplyDeleteExcellent composition - so much to see. Thanks for the explanatory link.
ReplyDeleteNice pic, looks great in bw :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting composition! I like it in b/w, too! This was taken at a great angle and I love the reflections in the puddle!
ReplyDeleteNice black & white shot.
ReplyDeletePerfect for B&W with bridge structure, people and reflection. And interesting. I can look for a while and imagine how many people walk there barefoot.
