This cute baby and its mama I spotted in Bucharest just a few weeks ago join Camera Critters and NatureFootstep Winged.
They are Great Spotted Woodpeckers (Dendrocopos major), quite common in Europe and northern Asia.

The little head peaking out of the nest is too sweet! We don't have woodpeckers here but I remember hearing them in Michigan. I like their rhythm. Beautiful photos, Francisca :D
ReplyDeletePS: Happy I could help out a little. Your large size photos look great! :D
Just realised that I've never ever seen a woodpecker... not even in the zoo (which I haven't been in ages). Only on TV - cartoons...
ReplyDeleteBoth are great but the 'at the window' shot is so very cute! :-)
ReplyDeleteNice photos. My litttle son likes the woodpeckers very much after he heard and saw one, but from a distance. Now he is waiting to see another one.
ReplyDeleteCute shot of the baby woodpecker. It is neat seeing birds from around the world. Great photos.
