Too Tasty for Men

What can one say? Have centuries of struggling for equal rights, equal respect, made the slightest mark on our "civilized" world?

Bucharest, 2011

So here is the ironic part of these billboards: Redd's is a brand of fruit-flavored beer - apple, raspberry and citrus - from Poland to satisfy a niche market of consumers, particularly women, who add juice to soften the bitter taste of traditional beer. So these 50's styled women are supposed to appeal to women, hence the tag line: too tasty for men. Go figure. But sales figures show that it's working.

  3. As long as a pair of breasts will get men's attentions, then they will be used.

  4. Yikes, I thought it was American men who are drawn to those kind of ads. It's universal then?

  8. it's a universal theme...and i don't think marketing would change in the next decades.:p

this reminds of the billboard in EDSA--a whiskey ad, i think. there was no photo but the by-line was something like---Nakatikim ka na ba ng kinse? [Have you tasted a fifteen-year-old?] it created a public indignation.:p

  9. It's my guess that the brew master is a woman.

  10. i've been wondering about that situation for years now -- why use a woman's image advertising a man's drink. At least this ad is showing a clothed woman. In some countries, women are almost cloth-less.

  11. It's a funny slogan, and I agree that's irony in it. I love the building by the way:)

  15. Quite odd to use those 50s type women to target a product for women! Would it work for women if they used men in the ad? I'm not sure.

  17. Three thumbs down (one for 50s-style women, one for the fact that women want to go back to there, and one for (yuk) fruit flavored beer).

Thumbs up for the picture and your commentary.
