Yesterday was the first death anniversary of my mother. I reflect on our special time together in her last months on the Sunshine Coast of BC before she crossed the final bridge. She too loved beauty in nature, so today I post a photo of a bridge I took on a walk with my nephew in a small park last year.
Sunshine Coast, 2010
The bridge has rolled out the red carpet. A lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteA sad time for you, and such a poignant picture.
The bridge lay out a red carpet for you.
ReplyDeleteThink pg good thoughts of your mum.
It sure looks very slippery on the bridge. It's nice to have sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou would want to hold on tight when crossing this bridge.
ReplyDeleteThe bridge has lots of character. I am sure she will like it.
ReplyDeleteCiao Francisca, a bridge, a symbol of union between our world and what it has welcomed people to our loved ones who are no longer here with us!
ReplyDeleteA bridge of memories to be sure. Beautiful picture too.
ReplyDeleteA lovely bridge and a symbolic story.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and touching homage!

ReplyDeleteSweet bridge, and very moving post. Thanks for sharing. It's a hard loss...
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely tribute to your mother. The time passes so quickly.
ReplyDeleteMoving! My mother died when I was 27, long ago. I like your bridge very much. And your post too.
ReplyDeleteI've found that time does mitigate the pain of losing one's parents, but we do not forget they gave us life and the many ways they blessed those lives.
ReplyDelete'Tis a beautiful bridge and a beautiful tribute, Francisca!
She lives on in all the hearts.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were careful, this looks like it was slippery!
That is a precarious looking bridge but aren't they all in some respect or other.
ReplyDeletea bridge to the other side... this is a nice choice.
ReplyDeleteas for my post of the knitted bridge, there have been a few other local bloggers who have also posted it, so it is quite likely you have seen it before.
A lovely tribute to your mother. And such a beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteShe lives in your memories and this is a sweet tribute to her.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little bridge, Francisca. I know how difficult things can be the first year after the death of a parent. Hoping you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteLuv, K
Ik was verrast je Nederlandse reactie te lezen. Heb op je blog gezien wat een avontuurlijk leven je hebt gehad tot nu toe. Leuk hoor.
ReplyDeleteGroeten, Marianne
A sweet post and a great tribute to your Mom. We get to cross our bridge when the right time comes.
ReplyDeleteThe green lichens are pretty!
There were no people on the boardwalk, cause I waited patiently until they leave...
Such a beautiful bridge -- I am sure it WOULD take her to somewhere as lovely. I did not 'know' you a year ago, so I offer my sympathy now, because I know the feeling of loss does not go away after a year -- or several.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute, Francisca!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fine tribute to your mother.
ReplyDelete«Louis» regrets that he was away all day Sunday and unable to comment then on your contribution to Sunday Bridges.
