@EG and VP... this boat is called a banca in the Philippines; it's a native outrigger. They come in all sizes, from tiny single man boats - even smaller than this - that are paddled, to enormous motorized ones up to 30 meters /100 feet that can carry passengers and cargo between the islands.
Oooh....I agree with everyone here. This is a beautiful composition of a lovely scene. I want to jump into that boat and paddle around the ocean. :-) Merry Christmas!
Francesca, Please enlighten us, are those "things" to rest the oars on? Beautiful how the background lights up enough to show the boat i the distance with the masts!
Ooh - I LOVE that shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful composition. I love the treatment too. There is something quite mystical about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific shot indeed, Francisca! I, too, love your composition! And, yes, mystical! Superb! Enjoy your week and a very Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeletewhat a great shot. i enjoyed the composition.
ReplyDeleteLove that it's in black and white. It's almost eerie in its effect. Water - the most important thing in all our lives.
ReplyDeleteThere is, indeed, an aura about this shot...It is my informed opinion that this should be framed and hanged and/or hung in Francisca's Gallery!
ReplyDeleteI like almost any kind of boat and this is unusual for me.
ReplyDeleteI have seen this type of boat on other blogs from the Philippines. What are they called?
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful shot, Francesca!
great shot that hits all the themes!

Low Tide, I miss my place because of your photo. I lived in Donsol (whaleshark) before I came here in the States, have you ever been there?
