Say A Prayer for Me

Xiahe, Gansu, 2007

It takes pious Tibetan pilgrims and monks two hours or more to walk and spin the entire prayer wheel circuit around the Labrang Monastery. It is the largest monastery of the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) school of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Lhasa.

I post this today for Mary's Ruby Tuesday.

  1. Such an evocative picture - very interesting subject and I like the perspective in your shot. It emphasises that these people are walking the circuit, not just standing still.

(And talking of walking, yes, I'd love to walk an art gallery with you!)

  4. It is sobering to realise what some people will do for their faith. And yet I can rouse none within my body nor my soul.

  16. What an incredible scene you captured here. I have a great deal of interest in Tibetan Buddhism.

One day when I return to Nova Scotia, I'd like to spend time at Gampo Abbey in Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton. I visited the grounds and saw the amazing views but the buildings were not open to visitors on that day.
